A Much-Needed Summer Break
Summer means it's time to do things a little differently. It's about taking it easy, getting out of the rigid routine of the school year, and perhaps getting the heck out of town for a while.
All of these require just a bit of resetting the mind, letting go of the rules, and giving yourself some permission to step back from the grind.
There are vacations and staycations to think about, but of course for many of us there's still work - though we don't have to kill ourselves, either. Fun summer parties, 4th of July, and swimming til we're water logged.
Raspberry Cake
For me, summer is all about bold flavors and light-hearted fun. This cake combines both of these principles and it just leaves such a smile on your face. That's especially true if you're sharing it with the special people in your life.
I made this for Mother's Day, which seemed appropriate given the wonderful "mom" shade of pink that the filling and frosting became with the frozen and fresh raspberries used in this recipe.
But I dare you to make this cake for summer and you'll get your own set of smiles from the people you love!
Get in the Summer Style
Getting into the summer groove might require a little summer wardrobe revamp. That includes anything from sandals and shorts to sunglasses and accessories!
I've had my tired old sandals for about five years now when Kyle bought me my awesome pair of OluKai sandals. I am now looking for my next pair because they're so comfy but they've stood up to the test of time. We wear our OluKai a LOT!
